Miki Flow is an internationally recognized hip hop artist from Cuba, with strong roots still existing in Alamar, the birth of hip hop in Cuba.
In his words: “For me hip hop is a way of life, it has taught me to better know myself. In my songs I try to reflect the life’s truths: the good, the bad, the happy, the sad, I follow my inspirations wherever they lead me. I was born in La Timba, a poor neighborhood on the edge of the Plaza of the Revolution. You wouldn’t believe the size of the potholes in the streets, cars can’t even drive through anymore — these are the things that are hard to understand in Cuba. I’m also from Alamar, the capital of Cuban hip hop. I arrived there just in time, right when it was all beginning. Now, after 10 years with my group Explosion Suprema I’m in Washington DC, the capitalist capital: not as an exile, but but as a young man learning about other cultures. I’m an mc, always moving forward with my music.” — Miki Flow
